As of sometime early next week (say, Nov 17th 2014), I intend to turn on
support for the "object-fit" & "object-position" CSS properties by default.

They have been developed behind the
"layout.css.object-fit-and-position.enabled" preference. (The layout
patches for these properties are actually just about to land; they're
well-tested enough [via included automated tests] that I'm confident
turning the pref on soon after that lands.)

Other UAs who are already shipping this feature:
  * Blink (Chrome, Opera)
  * WebKit (Safari) -- supports object-fit, but not object-position,
according to http://caniuse.com/#search=object-fit

This feature was previously discussed in this "intent to implement"
thread:
