As of February 4th I intend to turn support for the new SVG 2 path API on by default. It has been developed behind the dom.svg.pathSegment.enabled preference. Status in other browsers is: Chrome has an open issue to implement this: https://issues.chromium.org/issues/40441025. Browser support currently comes from a polyfill: https://github.com/jarek-foksa/path-data-polyfill
