Over the last couple of months, we have landed many patches to make building our platform for android much faster. These significantly reduced the overhead of running Gradle during our builds and now the android build times are much closer to desktop build times.
On a fast workstation with many cores, clobber android build times are now down to 4min30 (was 5min30 3 months ago), and android no-op builds are down to 4s (was 23s 3 months ago). For comparison, on the same machine, Linux clobber builds take 3min40, and Linux no-op builds take 3s. This is largely due to the excellent work of Aaditya Dhingra, with some help from Nick Alexander and me. Here are some of the bugs that got fixed: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=1946226%2C1947274%2C1924520%2C1947505%2C1947567%2C1949260&list_id=17488285 You can find links to many build profiles showing these improvements in this document: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1k-c-BdOWYM3clgztWdEh8kf6ZJjzNd-X8OJTzXW4U2k/edit -- Florian Quèze -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "[email protected]" group.
