Certificate validation hook for extensions

Since (I presume) most everyone with an interest will be in MV next week 
for the corporate all-hands, can we get together at some point and 
figure out a path to landing the certificate validation hook for 
extensions (bug 644640)?

Mon, Tue, and Fri are best for me.
