I am stepping in as a TLS-newbe who a few weeks ago selected to start
a project with GnuTLS over NSS because there is very little
*documentation* inside NSS that tells how to get started on a simple
system that does not involve in-depth knowledge of the full runtime. I
found it extremely problematic to find such advise and people on this
list agreed. It may be that you need to understand the full runtime.
Then, the missing feature is ease of a simple interface ;)

I am still interested in NSS, because I have a TLS driver layer in my
application and need to support multiple TLS libraries in the long
term. But my decision to get started with one was based on
documentation and sample available (not sheer volume, but
accessibility in regard to doing simple things for an app where TLS is
just a "side-feature" and not bound to the core).
