I was contacted by email by a German SeaMonkey user who visited a site that exhibits bug 167884 strongly, i.e. locks the browser on OS/2 for a long time when visited (be careful if you try):

The strange thing is that it works fine with Mozilla 1.7.12. Can anyone enlighten me which rendering feature that has to do with alpha transparencies, was added in the 1.8 timeframe, and is used by this site? (I know that CSS opacity was new but it doesn't seem to be used on
that site.)

I did not look at the bug, but on:
Mozilla/5.0 (OS/2; U; Warp 4.5; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051223 SeaMonkey/1.0b
The CPU goes to 99+%... Finally displayed the page, but the process never seemed to complete. And the CPU never let go. I finally just 'Killed' the process.
