That was just meant to test whether your stylesheet string itself is ok.
We know it is, since DOM Inspector shows the rules, so this experiment
isn't really worth doing.

OK, so your stylesheet is being applied. The rest is questions about
why the rules aren't affecting your nodes, which most likely has to do
with the nodes, not the stylesheet.
