autoconf build defaults to DEBUG build. for sans autoconf builds you can define the following when invoking make to enable DEBUG:
BUILD_OPT= BUILD_DEBUG=full DEBUG=full MOZ_DEBUG=1 btw, the stack trace you posted kinda rings a bell. dont recall any details the now but i think that HPUX system should get up to date on their latest patches before you carry on any further. specific patches to look out for are related to their dual IP stack implementation which was pretty buggy but i would go with geting all the latest patches anyway so there are no loose ends .
