To what expect are protocol handlers expected to be threadsafe? In particular,
should I be able to call newURI() on the IOService from off the main thread?
The reason this comes up is that null principals have a URI member, and we _do_
need to be able to create principals off the main thread...
At the moment, when I do this I get asserts about nsGnomeVFSProtocolHandler not
being threadsafe.
