I'm investigating a recurring issue where Firefox gets into a state where it no longer services network requests. When this happens, I can see that the HTTP layer is formulating the GET request, but the request is never sent over the wire. It is not a networking hang on the targeted website, although it is possible that the networking layer might have gotten hung up from a previous request. The socket layer just appears completely ignore the request.
From what I can determine, its very much like Firefox is operating in "offline" mode, yet the GUI and the about:config preferences show that its not. The net effect is that Firefox stops loading URLs and it seems to occur after around 12-24 hours of usage, hitting a variety of websites. I'm running Firefox 2.0.0.4 on Debian Linux 3.1 (Sarge). Has anyone else seen such behavior before? Anything that would help shed some light on the possible cause of this would be appreciated, including any bug references, or what (besides a restart) might cure the issue.
