I had a strange experience today that I was wondering if anyone else has
seen or has an explanation of.

I run the JavaScript tests via some scripts which start the browser,
load a url from a local webserver, close the browser, and repeat a
couple of thousand times.

While the tests were running, ssh connections to other machines over my
Hughesnet Satellite connection would just freeze up and stop responding.

The Hughesnet gateway kept having TCP acceleration issues. I didn't seem
to have the same problem with connecting to the test machine from
another machine on my local network, just connecting the test machine to
outside machines over the satellite connection. From my experience with
Hughesnet, I assumed that the root problem was with the satellite
connection, but as soon as the tests completed running my ssh
connections to outside machines worked fine and the TCP acceleration
problems ceased.

I haven't tried to reproduce this yet since I am still recovering from
the pita it caused, but will try to do so later. I'm wondering though if
the act of starting up and stopping Firefox repeatedly like this could
have caused my network problems?
