I've been seeing a really weird problem with the address book mork files. What is happening, is that at some stage whilst using SeaMonkey/Thunderbird, the address book (one of *.mab) is being corrupted. This causes the address book to be "lost" (though it is backed up).

The interesting bit is that (in my case) another file is being appended onto the end of the .mab file - in my case on Linux this tends to be the new mail notification sound.

I've now also seen a reference to this happening on windows (http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.support.thunderbird/browse_thread/thread/6efafec3896b745d/402c9fac2dbf68d0?q=How+to+salvage+address+book%3F&rnum=1)

Obviously this is quite unusual and strange, and I haven't gotten round to filing a bug on it yet as I've no idea where it would lie.

Anyone any suggestions/ideas as to what the problem could be?
