I think, for global registration, it's '.autoreg.dat' and for specific user, the files that need to be touched are 'xpti.dat' and 'compreg.dat'. Am I right? AFAIK, Without touching '.autoreg' file, the component should get register as that has been taken care in the component code. I thought the interface will also get registered(or known to Firefox) with the component. Probably the interface will be known to Firefox only when '.autoreg' file is touched. I am not sure.
