Hi Everyone, Recently in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=749033 there was a proposal to modify the mozapps API in mozilla central to change getInstalled() to show what native apps are installed on desktop. However, there is evident disagreement that exists on this decision right now to what the best approach is to meet each stakeholder's needs. Stakeholders include:
- Marketplace Team - needs to be able to know if app is installed or not - Apps WebRT Team - developers of the web runtime that implement the changes - Mozapps API maintainers - developers of the underlying mozapps API that are affected by these changes - Others I'm not thinking of We need to come to a consensus on what the best approach is that balances the needs of each stakeholder's requirements. Please help in providing feedback in this discussion on https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=749033 to help determine what the best approach is to determine how to detect what native apps are installed while balancing the requirements of what the mozapps API should do.
