Hello Kats, many thanks for your insights and what you write seems to make sense from the behaviour that I observed. I will happily file a bug for FirefoxOS - will need to strip the webapp down to bare minimum. Will try to find the time during next days.
In the meantime, can you provide me any advice how I can implement pinch-to-zoom in the webapp? I have seen that the HERE maps does pinch-to-zoom, though it seems that they implemented it themselves.
