Hello all, The Apache Accumulo PMC has decided to start drafting its quarterly board reports on the dev list. Here is a draft of our report which is due on Wednesday. Let me know if you have any suggestions!
Billie ------ The Apache Accumulo sorted, distributed key/value store is a robust, scalable, high performance data storage system that features cell-based access control and customizable server-side processing. It is based on Google's BigTable design and is built on top of Apache Hadoop, Zookeeper, and Thrift. Summary The project is active and there are no Board-level issues at this time. We have made no new releases since the previous report and have added two committers/PMC members. We forgot to mention in our last report that our trademark registration for ACCUMULO in the US has been granted! We also amicably resolved a trademark issue with the GitHub organization "accumulo" [1]. Releases There have been no new releases since the last report. The latest release was version 1.6.6 on 9/18/2016. Activity The number of subscribers to the dev list and the user list has decreased slightly. User list activity has increased slightly, while activity for other mailing lists has decreased from the previous quarter. Activity is still generally strong. In the past 3 months, there have been 81 commits to the master branch from 14 authors, 5 of whom are not yet committers. We have not begun release planning for our next release, but have 63 of 122 issues resolved towards a 1.7.3 release, 31 issues resolved for the 1.8 branch, and 58 issues resolved for the master (2.0) branch. Community Mike Miller was added as a committer and PMC member on 10/24/2016. Mike Walch was added as a committer and PMC member on 11/3/2016. Branding We noticed that the "accumulo" organization on GitHub did not meet third party branding guidelines. After we discussed this with the owners of the organization, they transferred control of the organization to the Apache Accumulo PMC and moved all third party repositories that had been associated with the organization.
