I commented on the PR, but I will also reiterate here in case anyone else wants to add to the discussion.
I am -1 on adding anything that requires a non-LTS version of java to build. We should stick to a maximum of the current LTS for the full build as not everyone has the ability to install non-LTS versions and there are very few people that use non-LTS versions. We can target new features like this when JDK 29 is released.
