I have the same idea before, but since 3.0.0 will not be released in the near 
future, and we have not decided on the roadmap of 3.0.0, I think the trunk 
branch is more appropriate for 2.8.0 right now.

BTW, I think we should keep as few changes as possible in branch-2.7.
