Dear all, I hope this message finds you well. I apologize for any inconvenience in advance, but I am reaching out to seek your assistance regarding our Python3 CI/CD environment.
As part of our ongoing efforts to expand Ambari support to more operating systems, we have recognized the importance of upgrading from Python2 to Python3. Python2 has reached the end of its maintenance cycle, and many operating systems have ceased support for it. This has resulted in challenges when installing big data platforms with Ambari on those particular operating systems. The transition to Python3 would greatly enhance our ability to support a broader range of operating systems seamlessly, including but not limited to Rocky 8, Ubuntu 22, Debian 11, and more. The necessary code modifications for Ambari to accommodate Python3 are relatively minor, and other major components of the Apache Bigtop ecosystem have already embraced these new operating systems. Consequently, the Python3 upgrade is a crucial feature for us. However, our current CI/CD environment lacks the necessary Python3 distro dependencies, rendering it incapable of running effectively. This bottleneck is impeding our development and review processes significantly. The corresponding PR link is as follows: https://github.com/apache/ambari/pull/3751 We kindly request your assistance or guidance to help address this issue within our CI/CD environment. Your expertise and support would be invaluable in overcoming this hurdle and facilitating our progress. Your willingness to contribute to this endeavor would be greatly appreciated, and we believe that together, we can swiftly resolve this matter. Thank you for your time and consideration. If you have any questions or need further information, please feel free to reach out to me.
