CFG_MyLayerUrl=/opt/mydata/$user/registry
If I'm not mistaken, you actually can use environment variables in that file. Beware: You may get into problems, if your user-ids or directories have non-ASCII characters in them.
Enviromental variables do work, atleast the $USER on linux do work. I have not tested on windows yet, since the windows machine needs a complete reinstallation (AGAIN)
