I corrected myself in a later mail in this thread: http://api.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=18533, where the bottom line reads Means that using createInstanceWithArguments[AndContext] is future-proof, even if implementations of dedicated factories change. So, at least *this* is not the problem with new-style service constructors in Basic ...
