Hey,

I know this topic doesn't really belong here, however, we are working on a
bunch of documents being loaded in a Fat Client Java application using
OpenOffice. It runs embedded in a Swing container.
Currently the main problem is the loading time, and moreover, the initial
loading time. Target machines vary from old (PIII with 512mb memory) to
rather new (core2 type machines).
We tried to get openoffice to start with the OS but that doesn't seem to
help the loading time 1 second.
So I'm wondering if there's something that might be done to get a sort of
"cache" from OpenOffice in our application itself.

Or if anyone has another proposal, by all means, let's hear it :-)

Cheers,
