Hallo all,
All users who wish to create documents who has to been "printed" by a
professional Printer (high resoltuion) struggles with the same problem:
the size/resolution off the graphics inside a OOdocument.
In general OO uses a kind of strange way to define the size and/off
resolution of inserted graphics. During the insert operation OO tries
to find the "PrintIntention" in the GraphicFile Headers. From the
resolution found in the GraphicFile header OO calculate a PreferredSize
and this pixels are then calculated to the GUI's Original size.
It sould far more better to work the other way around:
The Print intension's in a GraphicFile are set by the Photgraphers who
has no idea where there Pictures will been used. Most OO-users has no
idea wath are the printer intentions stored in there GraphicFiles.
I propose to store a "Printer Intention" in the Document (depending one
the printer who will be used) and during insert to divide the
available pixels by the needed pixels for the printer.
When the document indicate a resolution of 300 pixels per Inch then a
1500x1500 px Graphic will been inserted with a preferred/original size
of 5x5 inches.
To works the professional way we need a new Document Property indicating
this PrintIntention,
I do not found such thing in the ODF standard ?
