Hi C.,
Armin Le Grand and Regina Henschel currently work in this area. I put
them on cc maybe they can share some insights.
Armin is working on it. My part will be to test the implementation.

Christian

I stumbled on this Wiki comment today:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Talk:Documentation/DevGuide/Drawings/Rotating_and_Shearing
Is this comment valid? Does the Dev Guide need an update in this section?
The comment is valid. The service RotationDescriptor is deprecated.
http://api.openoffice.org/docs/common/ref/com/sun/star/drawing/RotationDescriptor.html
It is not too difficult to use the transformation matrix with OOoBasic.
I managed it using the existing guide for OOoBasic. Of cause an example
with comments is always useful.
But the transformation matrix does not work as it should. So it is not
possible to drop the RotationDescriptor immediately.
Currently the service is implemented with the methods
TRSet/SetBaseGeometry. But these handle the shear angle wrong [issue
108739]. I had started to work on it, but discovered, that the shear
angle is not the only bug. [issues 109118,109120-123, 108127,109128] In
addition there are some design shortcomings. After some discussion with
Armin, Armin decided to implement a new, clean interface. You can watch
his work by his comments in issue 108739.
