I'm writing an extension in C++ and I'm going to distribute a version for

MS Visual Studio, but it costs 1,200 euro for the MSDN version (900 euro
for the bare version). Is there a cheaper solution ?

Did you try Mingw and cygwin?

Regards,

No I didn't. Is it possible to use MinGW to compile C++ extensions that are to
be used with official releases of OpenOffice.org ?

I don't think so. You should use the Microsoft VC++ Express Compiler. Or Java. :-)

I use it for the OOo lists and only rarely read other mails sent to it.
