Hello,
I am Shivam Singh, a 2nd year University student from Indian Institute of
Information Technology, Una (India) pursuing Bachelor of Technology in
Computer Science and Engineering.
To participate in GSoC-2021 under Apache APISIX, I came up with *my own
project idea relating to APISIX growth, it is "Redesign and development of
Apache APISIX landing page".*
Main reasons for me to propose this project are -

· Website *doesn’t show the most important features of APISIX*

· Website *lacks a secondary call-to-action (After download) to the
docs* for which the website is made for.

· Website lacks the *amount of information needed to explain the
usefulness of APISIX and why it is better*.

· The *copywriting in certain sections of the website is too
long *(description
section)

· Website *lacks accessibility in images*. For instance, the APISIX
architecture image is not clear on desktop.

· Website *lacks visual design* as a whole, when compared to another
SaaS product website.

Considering the above issues, it is* essential that a redesign is needed*
to solve this, because to solve them would *require addition of multiple
new sections* to the website.
I have already discussed most of the heavy work with *Zhiyuan Ju (PMC at
Apache APISIX)* and even have had my project proposal reviewed by him with
agreement, mentioning *"the project background"*, *"Work
description"*, *"Redesign
mockup, with section-wise description"*, *"Results for community"*,
*"Deliverables"* and *"scheduling of tasks".*

So, I wanted to know* how would I be assigned mentor for this project. Will
it be decided by "Apache software foundation" as a whole or "Apache
APISIX"?*
If you would ask my personal choice, I would prefer *Zhiyuan Ju as first
choice, as a mentor for this project* as I have already discussed the
depths of this project with him, but still eager to work with someone else
the organisation chooses for this role.

Thanks,
Shivam Singh
