Is there really so much MDA specific traffic that it can't be handled by the dev and user lists? There was one message in 2006, four in 2005 and none in 2004, to go along with this exchange which is the first of 2007. Why don't we shut down this list so that users aren't tempted to send messages someplace where most people won't see them? I see from the list archives that the user got the problem resolved on his own, but for the record, the best way to get started with AndroMDA and ArgoUML is to use the tutorial. I did a ArgoUML specific instructions for it. Just click on "Getting Started Java (3.2)" from the AndroMDA home page. http://andromda.org/ As for the specific problem, it's not an issue with unsupported features, but rather an incompatibility between the way MagicDraw serializes linked XMI files and what MDR will read. It's unlikely that MagicDraw will ever fix this since they've moved on to UML 2.x, so the workaround is to "flatten" the file and write it out as a single XMI file. We have just such a file in SVN and the tutorial includes a pointer to it. I think we also include it in our kits (although there's no easy way to know it's there or to switch to it until the profile work is done). Tom

Am I right or is there some other problem with this? /Linus ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Linus Tolke <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: 2007-aug-02 09:28 Subject: Re: [argouml-mda] Andromda 3.1 Profile To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Hello Tim! I am not really sure about this but think someone mentioned that the MDA profile uses some XMI constructs that are not supported by ArgoUML. I will bring this question up on the dev list. /Linus 2007/7/21, Tim Toennsen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>: Hello everybody, in the moment I try to learn more about MDA. To get a bit practise I got a project from my boss, which I shall try to realise with andromda. First of all I started the modeling with Andromda 3.1 and MagicDraw9.5 CE, but MagicDraw CE ist limited, expecially in the use of UseCase Diagramms. So I decided to Use ArgoUML instead. I use Agrouml 0.24, Eclipse 3.2.1 with ant, and Andromda 3.1. To start the modeling I need the Andromda-profiles, do get the correct datatypes, but when i try to open the profilefiles from the andromda-package I get an error from argouml. I didn't have this problem with MagicDraw95 CE and both UML-Tools support UML1.4 and XMI 1.2. As far as I know is Andromda3.1 using UML1.4 as well, so I don't see any problems here. Can you help me out and tell me why I cant use the profiles and what I can do about it? Thanks a million! Best regards Tim Toennsen
