Hi Amit, I'm sorry that you weren't selected, but I'm sure you'll understand that the admins & mentors really can't get into individual critiques of each application. That would be a never ending process. Suffice it to say that many very good applications weren't accepted.
The important things to realize are that it's an incredibly intense competition with many, many more applicants than slots and that there are factors other than the strength of the applicant that come into play. The successful applications combine not only strong applicants, but also great benefits for the ArgoUML community, and good fit with the available mentors. Speaking of mentors, we had 7 available mentors, some who had the capacity to mentor multiple students, and we ended up with 5 slots, so not all the mentors got what they wanted either. You probably saw Leslie's note that there were 7 applicants for every available slot in the program and the ArgoUML numbers were about the same. It sucks that we have to say "no" to people, but the fact of the matter is that there were many more "no"s than "yes"es. We hope that all of the applicants will stay involved with the project and, if still a student next year, apply again. Tom p.s.
