Have "daybyter" (whoever the heck that is), sign up for the dev list and use their real name so that we can have the discussion here in a forum where all the developers can take part. It's one thing to set up a wiki/bb to make things easier for the users, but there's no way I'm going to start trying to track important developer conversations across multiple forums. BTW, I'm pretty sure that the answer to the money question can be found in the list archives for this list. In brief, all funds earned from the last two Google Summers of Code, plus any contributions which have been made to the project, are under Linus' sole control and the SFC will disburse them in whatever manner he dictates. (Hopefully he won't be spending €1500 on prizes for people to enter their models in some contest when fame/publicity or, at most, a T-shirt should be plenty to get enthusiasts to submit their work).
