I donwloaded StarUML to take a look at what was at the time the only
other open source solution. Personally I didn't find it as intuitive
as ArgoUML and as I'm not familiar with the technologies its built
with I could do nothing to apply patches and improve.

As you can see ArgoUML is being very actively developed. UML2 is on its way.

Nicolas - thanks for your support with testing sequence diagrams for
us. You may have heard that there were fears that including them with
0.26 would have caused delays for that release and so they will not
make 0.26. However it will be released as a plugin as soon as it is
viewed as stable so you will not have to wait till the next full
ArgoUML release to get this.
