The OMG plan to replace DI with a new Diagram Definition. See here - http://www.omg.org/cgi-bin/doc?ad/2007-9-2
and see some general chat on the subject here - http://modeling-languages.com/blog/content/anybody-remembers-uml-diagram-interchange-format So there is little point in investing time in DI and even for DD I think we should wait to see how well it is adopted in other tools. Concentrating first on fully supporting the UML2 model should be our priority before this. If we are entirely compatible with the framework eclipse gives us then we will be in a position to take advantage of any other technologies eclipse may develop for DD support.
