Atlas community,

It has been close to 2 years since the last Apache Atlas release, 2.3.0 in
Dec-2022. During this time, the community has added more than 100 commits with
several improvements, fixes, and new features. I propose we start preparing for
Apache Atlas 2.4.0 release to include all these enhancements by mid of December
2024.

Git branch branch-2.0 will be used for this release. If you would like any
improvement or fix to be included in this release, please ensure the
fix-version is set to 2.4.0 in JIRA.

Here are few key improvements:

- REST APIs to receive notifications from Atlas hooks

- Improvements in dynamic index recovery

- Support for aging metadata audits

- Option to download search results

- UI fixes in business glossary, search feature

- Fixes and enhancements in import/export feature

- Utility to analyze hook notifications

- Replace use of log4j with logback

- JanusGraph update to 1.0.0

- HBase update to 2.6.0, Solr update to 8.11.3, Kafka update 2.8.1

- Dependent library version updates, including Spring security, Netty,
Tinkerpop,

The Apache Atlas PMC would appreciate your contributions and feedback in
getting 2.4.0 release out.

Thanks,

Madhan
