Hey :) certain Python + SSL variants on MacOS can have difficulties connection to the Python package index.
Please try to patch https://github.com/apache/aurora/blob/master/pants# L35 to use virtualenv==15.2.0. You can leave the pants version at 1.4.0.dev23, which is the one we have been using for Aurora 0.20 and master. I hope this helps.
