In Plexus I'm implementing the tried and true Service Configurator pattern.
I think I like the way this is looking in plexus (IIRC, but it's pretty late so I may actually be thinking about another project :D), but haven't had time yet to take a closer look. The suspend()/re*()/resume() part of the lifecycle to me is a bit like the Service Configurator, with the additional constraints of passive services/IoC.
