Based on feedback re. scripts on different unix platforms everything seems to be ready to go. The one outstanding point of validation concerns a Cygwin test. If anyone is running Merlin under this environment - confirmation would be appreciated. Also, confirmation concerning the Mac platform would be nice.

In the meantime I've located and fixed a bug in avalon-meta related to the externalization of a type descriptor in XML for a type containing an optional context entry. The problem was the the option attribute was not being written properly and that in turn was resulting in a non-parsable .xinfo. A second bug (also related to optional attributes) was identified in the composition package. If a type only contains optional entries, and no corresponding metadata is declared, an NPE would be thrown. This has now been fixed and as working nicely. For those working off CVS, is recommended that you do the following:

   $ cd avalon\meta
   $ maven avalon:clean avalon:dist
   $ cd ..\merlin
   $ maven avalon:clean merlin:update

As things stand on the vote - we have a successful vote on the release of 3.2 and 3.2.1, however, updates to the script are included in 3.2.2 and bug fixes concerning block add/remove and the above context entries are in 3.2.3. I think we should wait another couple of days for script validation then do another release vote against the latest build before requesting a PMC publication vote.

Cheers, Stephen.
