A few of us have been looking into this for a while, and, if I understand correctly, a concrete proposal with several variants is coming up shortly ;-)
On a high level, there are a few pros and cons: a lack of submit queue, mirroring with force push that could lose data, no easy ability to automatically regenerate the website, etc. I'll leave the details for a more detailed email a bit later.
