Nice patch!
Some notes:
* Boxgrinder enables you to embed external files without going through
packages. So the start-mr.sh script could be in a separate file
* I see you deactivate yarn/mapreduce on boot. I also see your message to
manually start the cluster. But why not starting it on boot? Wouldn't tweaking
the init script boot priorities/dependencies do the trick?
