I indeed didn't see this  jira which you pointed out before. But that's not 
quite the duplication, it's more of a supplement.

In the jira you reference you're talking about running small MR jobs thousands 
or tends of thousands times in line, to  that things like memory leaks in 
hadoop daemons will come out.

I'm having a bit different usecase. Specifically, while running long-running 
tests (like dfsio, terasort) I want to additionally load the system (not 
hadoop, but OS) with simulated load and observe what's going on. That may  help 
(including, but not limited too:) ) in detecting issues around failovers, HA 
etc.
