Hello,

as the initial founder of the BizDev project, I first would
like to express my gratitude to the bizdev volunteers and the
actual project leads.
I would like to state clearly the reasons that led me to
resign from the BizDev leadership a while ago:
-lack of time (as I was starting a new business)
-conflict of interest, because of this new business, Ars Aperta.

That said, I acknowledge that the BizDev project has so far
failed to take off, and I'm sorry for this, as this is partly my fault.
The reasons are many, but I can see some
of them: lack of strong agenda, difficulty to bring service
providers, companies and support businesses online, lack of
webtools (could be solved with the wiki now), and -no pun
intended to leads of the project- lack of time from its
leaders. I know what I'm talking about here, I have been in
there before :-) .
Also, the bizdev is an incubator project, rather far from the
central projects and lacking of pluck and influence.

However, I don't think that merging this project back into the
Marketing project would be a solution. In fact it would even
diminish its already small visibility, and drown it entirely
behind the noise generated on the central marketing list.

I would be very much in favor of giving this project a second
chance; merging it inside the MP would ruin what it was
thought for at the beginning: providing the quiet and
comfortable atmosphere for businesses to interact between each
other.

Today, the only value that has been achieved inside the bizdev
is the Consultants'File: moving this to a wiki is certainly a
good idea. For the rest of the intended goals, a true
discussion needs to happen to see if the bizdev should expand
and restart, or if it should basically center only around the
Consultants'Directory.

Hope this helps,
Charles.
