Hi Graham,
Regarding your ideas, today I finally had a chance to discuss this, in
some depth, with Terry Ellison, one of the other admins at the site. Our
initial thought is to find a way to accommodate. However we feel it is
really a decision that should have input and buy in from a broader
number of the active participants - to that end a discussion topic was
opened on our admin forum, along with a copy of your message this
afternoon.
Quite a few folks have been tied up with the holidays but all seem to be
back at it again, so we expect this will get attention rather quickly.
For now we just want to get the feeling of the moderators and then maybe
push it out to the general user base on the Site Feedback board with
initial thoughts on how to implement - at that point ( I would expect a
few days to a week at most ) you would be welcome to join in, along with
anyone else from the list here, with further ideas or comments.

ps - Sorry for being so long in getting back to you - and for putting
you off a bit longer without a decision. I'll blame the delay on the
holiday season and the number of folks on vacations - yes, that is much
better then simply saying I let it slip for a bit.
