Just to follow up on the request Graham made.

First - this is not 100% final, but should be by Monday morning and looks to be:

We will accept this type of post in that particular forum - with some rules:

The account used to post these topics must belong to a special group for this 
purpose. ( [OOoVendors] the group will NOT be displayed in the page legend. ) 
The account owner must request membership in the group and will be required to 
supply additional contact information to the administrators before being 
approved.The account used to post the topic must accept emails from forum 
membersThe account used to post the topic must accept PMs from forum 
membersOnly one post from this account at a time is permitted - board wide!
The topic will be locked - no replies are allowed The Topic will allow the same 
3 attachments rules as all other postsThe topic will be automatically deleted 
at the end of 90 daysThe account may be used to post a new topic only after the 
old one is deletedAttachments are automatically deleted when topics are 
deleted.All topics posted will have a disclaimer added to the topic.Let me go 
over what those mean and what you can do with this topic post and your account.

First you would need to register a separate user name at the forum. This user 
account would be used for the sole purpose of working with this topic.
Upon registering with a valid email account and validating the account in the 
normal fashion you would need to log on to the forum and send a private message 
to myself or one of the other administrators. In this private message you must 
include:
The DBA name of the company
The mailing address
A phone number
A contact name
Your website address
A brief description of the type of service or goods you will be promoting.

Upon acceptance by the administrators of the site your account will be moved 
into a special users group, OOoVendors. This will allow the administrative 
staff to send messages to all group members if needed - it also will limit the 
rights for that account to post only to this single forum.

At the same time the standard signature line of the account will be changed to 
read:

~ Placement on this site is not a statement of endorsement for the goods or 
services that may be mentioned within in any way. ~

This post is allowed as a convenience for our members - and to help support the 
OpenOffice.org community.


You are forbidden from altering the signature line on this account in any way. 
FYI - on the site the signature line is separated from the body of the topic 
post by a bar - so it will not be directly up against your copy. If you want to 
use a standard style signature line in your topic post you will need to add it 
directly.

You must have the options on the account set to accept emails and Private 
Messages and display your website link. ( if you do not have a web site - well, 
we can talk ) You may include IM links on your account also.

You may include your own graphic for an avatar ( in this case a logo I would 
think ) that is no larger then 90 x 90 and 7K.

Your topic may include up to three attachments. These can be any of the 
following file types, up to 128K each:
png, jpeg, gif
pdf
odt, ods, odp, odb

You may not use any Microsoft file formats - OK I just made that up for fun.

Grahpics files may displayed in the body of the post and will be scaled for 
display ( roughly 400 x 400 is the max sixe ) - the users of course can click 
on them for full size views of the actual file. Other file types will be 
available for download. So you could distrubute a pdf brochure for instance. In 
this case your accounts User Control Panel will give you a count of how many 
times a document has been downloaded, but not who did it.

The topic post and all attachements ( less the logo ) will be deleted from the 
server at the end of 90 days.
You have the option of deleting a post before that time if you choose and the 
attachments will be automatically deleted also.

You may put a new post up only after the first one has been deleted. You will 
not be notified when it is deleted.

The topic will not be made a sticky and each 90 days it goes into it's proper 
order for display with other posts.

The topic is locked, so you may not take replys using the thread. Users may 
contact you via email, PM or links you provide in the topic.

We do not allow html code to be added directly in posts - but we can work with 
you if you really need something like a table markup


OK - well one last item for this list.
Any commercial post made to any forum at the site is regarded as SPAM - these 
will be the only exceptions. We are quite serious about that - since opening we 
have only had three attempts: one for cell phones and ipods, one for sneakers 
and one for ....surprise.... viagra.

We set a new record on the snearker sales - 22 minutes and all posts had been 
deleted, the account locked and the email address used banned from any furture 
use in a new registration at the site. The longest living SPAM account was 90 
minutes....We do not give warnings.

So - if you have any comments or questions let me know - other wise I shuold 
get back to you by the first of the week with any final changes and hopefully a 
final OK to proceed.

Finally - we would encourage anyone wanting to availe themselves of this to 
register a personal account at the site and take some time to answer questions 
from new users or power users ( they always have the most interesting questions 
anyway ),
