*smile*...well, seemed like a good subject line.

Anyway - just taking a break between tasks today and caught up with the mornings email - thought I would pass along a couple of items.

1) Open Database Association - I mentioned this on the dba users mailing list the other day. This morning I received the first email posted to the associations mailing list (Subject: ODBA mission)

"Mission of the Open Database Alliance

* Promote and support the business interaction of its member organizations.

* Promote member partnering and revenue sharing that provide customers a single point of contact for all related products and services.

* Support the development and use of Open Source databases, and their surrounding products and services"

2) I've been following along with the mail thread on the marketing list - Microsoft's COO about Openoffice

Now it seems to me that the ideas coming out in that mail thread should be resonating with the folks on this list..

3) Finally - if none of that gets you thinking then this blog by Matt Asay - "When freedom isn't free (software)" http://news.cnet.com/8301-13505_3-10293886-16.html

So my question - What is this group about again?

Drew

ps - If anyone ever tells you that buying a few of rental properties is a good idea...run away, run very far away...break's over - back to the bathroom remodeling.

I think is a great thing to think about further development of the database module in OOo and I agree that we need better integration with the rest of the suite. I would love to see the results from the DBA survey and start taking a closer look at what we can do to improve their status.
