I did some exploratory testing on OS X with the tar.gz, and deployed a
few blueprints.

For the dockerfile not working out-of-the-box with base image
`maven:3.6.3-jdk-8`, that's something we should include in the release
notes (saying what the simple workaround is). However, I don't think
this has to be a blocker - we don't use this to release an image to
docker hub (or equivalent) as part of the brooklyn release. Also, that
dockerfile is a convenience for building (if I understand correctly)
rather than impacting end-users who are running Brooklyn; the build
outside of docker still works.
