   `build_config.h` supports both 32-bit and 64-bit MIPS, but neither 
`ARCH_CPU_MIPS_FAMILY` nor `ARCH_CPU_MIPS64_FAMILY` is handled here, so this 
falls through to the x86 `pause` instruction. The new `SeqCounter::load()` 
instantiates `cpu_relax()` on this path and MIPS builds will fail in the 
assembler; add a MIPS-safe pause/no-op implementation or exclude that target 
explicitly.
