Specs pass again:

the problem was that the scala version was set, and the build settings were
not overridable in the specs afterwards.
I moved the scala version setting as a before(:each) block for the scala
specs.

I could not find a better way to do this, for now. Feel free to rework it,
as long as specs pass.
I'm looking forward to getting a CI build so that we can detect those
problems early.
