You are right, but most people use GMail as their mail client, and having the email correctly sent by the list server, and being present in the archives amounts to little if most list members don't see it in their inbox. I am glad that it wasn't marked spam for everyone. GMail's ways are mysterious, I could only react based on what mine did.
