I could probably give a talk about some of our SQL extensions, for example
arbitrary mutually recursive views and some extensions for streaming
computation.

One problem with my work is that we use a different code generator and we have
two optimizers: Calcite being the first, and another optimizer using our own
custom IR. Thus, other Calcite users cannot directly benefit from everything we
do - but we upstream pretty much everything we do in the Calcite side. I am
never sure whether the presentations I give are really relevant enough for this
audience.

Subject: [DISCUSS] Apache Calcite Meetup March 2026

Hi all,

It's a good time to start discussing the next meetup of the Apache
Calcite community.
The last meetup was in February 2025 [1] so it would be good to aim
for some time during March 2026 to retain the annual cadence.

The last time we followed a hybrid (online + in person) format that
was pretty successful so it would be nice if we can retain this
structure. I don't have anything concrete regarding a physical
location but we can iterate here to see if we can find something.

We can keep date & time open for now till we gather more details about
potential speakers and host location.

Are there people willing to give a talk around Calcite?

Best,
Stamatis
