---------------------------------------------------------------
David can you please post a test for this?
There are tests[1] for this code so maybe you missed something with permissions
etc, or of course maybe these tests miss something.

> file: consumer does not create directory
> ----------------------------------------
>
> Key: CAMEL-4474
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CAMEL-4474
> Project: Camel
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: camel-core
> Affects Versions: 2.8.1
> Environment: java 1.6
> Reporter: David J. M. Karlsen
> Labels: component, consumer, file
>
> According to http://camel.apache.org/file2.html autoCreate is true by default
> and should for a consumer create the directory.
> {noformat}
> autoCreate true Automatically create missing directories in the file's
> pathname. For the file consumer, that means creating the starting directory.
> For the file producer, it means the directory the files should be written to.
> {noformat}
> This does not happen and thus a route startup would fail.
