Apologies all, I forgot to mention this when I sent out the release announcement. In the process of making the security upgrades mentioned for the 3.13.0 Java driver we bumped the minimum required Java version from Java 1.6 to Java 1.8. This change is consistent with the future plan for the 3.x Java driver outlined at https://lists.apache.org/thread.html/7r2jqfkz33y4x99mvso3mzzvo8bfc75k.
