I think I applied directly to Avantgate for an open source licensed edition. 
But I also have my own commercial license so I'm confused.

Andrew, if you do need to get a license, then go for the lower cost "Oxygen 
Author" product for docbook. It is certainly the best docbook editor I've ever 
found, but as often as not I find myself editing the raw XML anyhow.
